Ring Circus Productions is proud to present HUMAN
NATURE: New Works by Andrea Arcuri and Tama Distler, on view at The Big Top Art Gallery and Event Space from December 4, 2004
through January 1, 2005. The
December art exhibition features paintings by Tama Distler and photography by
Andrea Arcuri. The exhibition opens
on Saturday, December 4 with an Opening
Reception from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. Live music will begin at 8:00 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
Tama Distler began her formal art education at Tulane University in New Orleans and
continued her studies at The School
of the Art Institute of Chicago where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree in painting as well as a degree in Art Education. She currently teaches art studio at the
Isidore Newman School. Ms. Distler
currently shows her paintings in Chicago and New Orleans and finds her careers
as art educator and artist to be mutually beneficial. Her paintings explore the delicate relationship of color and
form and the power of color to create form. Her recent works explore the body as landscape with muted
hues taken from nature, brilliant in their subtle and skilled combinations with
anthropomorphic imagery.
Andrea Arcuri grew up in LaPlace, Louisiana and has lived in New Orleans since
1991. Her career as a hair stylist
encourages her creativity in a 3-dimensional format, whereas photography
enhances her artistic eye. Ms.
Arcuri’s images display natural beauty in the form of idyllic landscapes, and
also deal with the human impulse.
Black and white as well as color photographs are currently on view.
